I think that I am in the “dated” category as I built my first “coarse fishing” rod out of whole cane

as a schoolboy in the 1950’s in Britain. Have since built fiberglass (solid and hollow), split cane

and graphite. Even had a go at splitting my own cane. I currently have eleven graphite fly rods

to build – from ultra light freshwater to 12 wt saltwater. The problem is lack of time. Can’t wait

to quit work & retire.
