Vagn,
I am one of the old fashion old Far--. I learned on Bamboo before there was any Glass or Graphite rods. I gravitated to first Glass then Graphite. I still fish glass and graphite along with bamboo. Each has it's own place. One is not better than the other. I like the feel of bamboo but what I like better is making them. This is not a bamboo stick that has guides on it. The bamboo rods I make are six strips of bamboo for each section. The strips are planed to a 60* angle and with a taper .The strips are then glued together to make the blank. All my rods are hand planed and it takes up to 60 hours to make one. I like working with my hands and making things. I am not putting you down in any way, just letting you know why some of us make bamboo rods. I was at a rod making company earlier today casting an experimental rod that is made from a special woven graphite. WOW, It cast like a bamboo rod but has the feel of Graphite. A 4 wt. was a light as a 2 wt. I will write up a report with the companies name and get an OK from Byard before I post it. This rod is absolutely one of the best rods I have cast. I have been casting rods for over 60 years.

I dont really have any relation to bamboo, have never casted one,
actually have only seen a bamboo rod once and thought that it was very
nice but also "oldfasion".

So its not really a NO to bamboo, it mare like a "i dont thing i will
ever care enough about bamboo to make one"

I dont know i just feel like bamboo is for old guys (running and ducking :-))

I picked up a couple blanks(9' 5wt & 9.5' 7 wt) for $20 a few months ago and
hope to finish them out sometime soon. Bamboo will come after that.

I am just curious as to how many people on here are into rod building . I

got into it december of 2003, since then I have built a lot of rods. So far
for myself I have built:

6'6" rainshadow 2 wt (my favorite rod)
7' Dancraft 1 wt (just finished, have not fished it)
a 9 ft bamboo 4wt
a 5 ft 1 wt bamboo
a 10' tiger eye 8/9wt (salmon rod)
a 5 piece 9' dancraft 9065 (smallie fishing)
a 9 ft matrix 8 wt
3 bass spinning rods
and I am starting two 6'6" ultralights (for a buddy)
