Neville I don't use the bottlenecks. The wings I tie are more complex so I prefer the long range tubes which allow you to tie on the liner tube in front of the weighted tube. They have a more tapered head which also helps keep the "Temple Dog" style wing lifted up. The bottlenecks are just that... meaning...they have a short thick neck that is good for fast ties with simple wings (similar to the Loop or Gordon Griffiths bottlenecks). I've tied a few of the bullet tubes also but we really don't have the kind of water around here to fish those in and they are far too heavy for me. They make a clouser feel like a featherwing. They might work out for deep water fluke fishing with a few tweeks to the patterns. :) That's just my preference though I do have a few of the bottlenecks here for demonstration purposes. I just googled for them and was surprised to find out that they are also available in USA. Have you tried or tied on them? He has a few articles that are fascinating reading if you're into tube flies... I was hoping he would write a book. He was an editor for a Russian Fly Fishing Magazine. I believe one of the first of it's kind in Russia. http://www.angelfire.com/wa/salmonid/contributor18.html Enjoy, Deb
