Not quite true. The other 'advantage'  of the dubbing loop approach is that you can still get away with making the dubbing rope too long. Simply wrap,  tie down, snip excess. With the split loop you need the corect length rope.

It means you are required to plan better. Not that this is a bad thing... ;-)
