I have a STB TV PCI card running on a Pentium classic 120Mhz with Mandrake 8.1 (bundled bttv v0.7)
I am using XawTV and while it works, once in awhile, the picture would lose sync and I would lose both video and audio. It seems to be especially bad when the computer is accessing the hard drive, making me suspect a timing issue with the CPU loading. I've isolated the problem to something beyond the tuner because I get the same problem if I tune in to Channel 3 and use the VCR as the RF tuning source. Has anyone else had this problem, and know of a potential solution (other than a hardware upgrade)? THe pictures would come in really clear, and then slowly get really bright before it loses sync completely. I've tried fine-tuning to no avail.
