Another way you can do it is using bttvgrab. This app comes with a 
sample script and html page to stream grabbed images to a web page. I 
think it just dumps pnm files, or maybe jpeg, which get pushed onto the 
client. really simple, and totally inadequate if you want to use 
something like mpeg. But it's easy to set up, and you can get really 
high framerate over ethernet. It might suck on lower speed connections, 
though.
