  I know that I was pretty surprised about the lack of a libv4l for
software conversion fallbacks, especially since it would be bad (tm) to
put such code in the driver directly.  And it wouldn't take much for me
to do one myself, but then I have to ask, would anyone use it?

  There sure is no liboss (although I guess ALSA has a userspace library
part)...
