Best card chipset? Bt878? Best overall PAL card?

Hi, I usually buy new hardware, then get bad news about it, so i'll do it the other way round this time :) I've currently got V3 3500TV but unfortunatly its been unmaintained for some time.

Which chipset works best under linux?

Anyone got a nice PAL card they recommend? favouring quality over price.

Will all cards sharing the same Bt chip perform exactly the same?
