Thanks for your answer, and yes, you're correct about that... I hoped I
could get at least _some_ insight about the problem, but alas, not a single
reply :(

That is very much like my own setting: Slackware 7.0, Kernel 2.2.15. I
tried first the kernel modules, I played with the values from there a lot,
but I had no luck. Then I got the i2c-stack patch and bttv-0.7.28 (5 minutes
ago), but the outcome is the same: no sound.
There seems to be one difference though: my card is 3DeMON, but it is
not the PV951 model, it is another (cheaper) one, which has no sound-chip.
AFAIK, these chips provide stereo sound and such, but my card is deffinitely
mono (in Windows too).

I copied the setting exactly to my modules.conf, restarted, even tried
loading them by hand, but still no sound. The "tda8425" module loads fine,
but it remains "unused" when I do a "lsmod"...

Well, unfortunately it didn't work for me, probably because my card is
another model... I would still appreciate any input someone would have to
offer regarding the "tvcards" structure, and the appropriate values one has
to enter there (or at least how to find out those values). Meanwhile, I'll
resort to the good old "boot to Win then softboot Lin" workaround :(
