[V4L] Linux video questions

Hi, I'm a Linux newbie. I have to build a prototype Linux based system that supports Video and sound recognition.   I see that there are various cameras and video boards. The video application is teleconferencing. Can someone recommend a camera and video board (low cost) that will work with the latest release of Red Hat Linux (7)?   Thanks, Steve
