*Most* importantly, the WB and Criterion versions are shorter as implied by the description in an earlier post. Chaplin took out a scene or two in his authorized 1971 version (showing the mother wracked by guilt that most people feel makes it a better film) but the out-of-print Image Entertainment release<http://www.amazon.com/Kid-Dogs-Life-Charles-Chaplin/dp/6305760047/ref=sr_1_4?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1287599742&sr=1-4>is the only authorized one that has those scenes put back in. Something to consider.
