Friends,

Here's another message from a vendor who refuses to sell a home version dvd through Amazon's Marketplace. I responded that I'm permitted to buy the dvd for my institution through the federal copyright exemption but they're still arguing with me. I also suggested that they join the video librarian listserv :-)

We sell copies of our films with public performance licensing to schools, organizations, libraries, etc. The educational price for "Ahimsa: Non-Violence" is $95 plus $15 shipping/handling. With this copyright permission, you are licensed to show/view/store the DVD at the school. This license is required under U.S. copyright laws for films used in an educational institution.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues 
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition,bibliographic control, 
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and 
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective 
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication 
between libraries,educational institutions, and video producers and 
distributors.
