For a one off show I get that, but if some group wants to do a series they
should be able to find some films from your collections that have PPR. It
might also be worth reminding the Profs of what films have PPR and seeing if
they might want to work with a student group on an open show. The ones I
have been mainly working on ( Gerrymandering & Gacaca series on Rwanda)
actually play regularly at colleges and often I will explain for either a
little more or sometimes no more at all they can KEEP the DVD and in a few
cases I have actually told a group that their university ALREADY owns the
copy and it comes with PPR. I understand that probably most films sold with
PPR are really not the type to show to a campus wide audience, but there are
many that are and it seems a waste to me not to try to use rights you paid
for.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
