To be fair to one and all, I think that all prior studies and reports will now have to be reconsidered or ammended to take in account the Georgia State decision which does have some positive aspects for the librarians. We've all discussed how the vague guidelines for fair use can be and how we all needed a court decision to clarify and define the laws. And for now, the 10% is the new guideline -- though any appeal would most likely change that for better or worse.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
