Nahum--This post seems contradictory. You began helping filmmakers distribute their films because you had good results self-distributing your own films, then state that self-distribution is not worthwhile for filmmakers. You are a filmmaker, I presume, and it was worthwhile for you, else you wouldn't have began your company.
The essential take-away is that self-distribution is doable, is not rocket-science, and after the initial push to establish an effective sales platform, takes remarkably little effort, even if one continues a campaign for years. VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
