When I am bored and thinking about what to code I often play around with
the mouse selecting text and dragging around inside gvim.

I doubt there is a fix for this,

The fix would be to find a better way to occupy your time while 
you're bored or thinking about what to code.  ;-)  Maybe 
needle-point or knitting.  I'd advise against whittling, as 
little chips of wood can fly into the keyboard and cause no end 
of trouble.
