Am I correct in assuming that this problem does not occur if you e.g
use the standard English layout? How do I install neo myself to see
if I can reproduce the problem?

One possibility is if you have customized key bindings in [~]/Library/
KeyBindings/DefaultKeyBinding.dict. If so, try removing them and see
if the problem persists.

If that doesn't do it then please help me reproduce the problem on my
machine so that I can try to debug it.

Thanks,
