Your mileage may vary, of course, but for me being able to move while
the highlight is not only useful: it is essential. It's almost hardcoded
in my brain: I hit "/", type some letters, hit "/" again or "Enter" and
start moving to see the hits. If I have to fine-tune I press "n" after
"Enter", but most of the time I just want to make fast checks on source
code and moving with the highlight on is VERY useful for me.

That was a feature I missed in other editors, even before using Vim!
