Hello,

As written in netrw help, wide listing format is the most compact
format for listing files.

However, we see easily that this format is far less compact than the
one used by the ls unix command.

This feature is not comfortable since we remember the position of
files by their position in the columns of the ls command. Columns look
completly different with unix ls and netrw wide format (for the same
terminal width of course).

It appears that the rule chosen by ls is the following:
variable column width with exactly two spaces between colums.
The rule chosen by netrw seems to be:
fixed colum width calculated to be the longest file name + 3.

Is it (or would it be) possible to have the same rule (the ls one) in
both environments.

Best regards

Jean Johner
