Hi! I acquired a Performa 638CD a few years ago, mostly because it was just gonna be thrown away, and it had a TV tuner in it. Now I have a few questions dealing with it.
1: How do I open the case? I have been trying for hours and this has compeletly stumped me. I would love to see what makes this little system tick, and what parts I may be able to upgrade. 2: What kind of ram does it use (is it the same as the PPC6100?) and what is the most that I can put in it? 3: Did they make a Mac+Monitor AIO system? I can see the back of one of those performa AIO systems in my garage, but it is kinda trapped back there, but the rear panel looks strikingly familiar. 4: Could I "hack" an IDE Hdd into it using the HDD cable from an older Imac? 5: What are the specs for this thing? 6: If there was an AIO version of this mac, could I just insert the TV tuner into it, and then sell this system? 7: What is the best OS for it? 8: What Applications would work with this? (I have a copy of Softwindows that I used to run on my 6100 PPC system, but I seem to have killed my PPC so that will not work anymore) 9: Would this make a good system for AppleIIE emulation? if not, would a Mac Classic do the job?
