The front and back removals are independent. I broke the plastic on
my 630 on the front - it was brittle from age.

They have 72pin SIMMS. The most you can put depends on the motherboard
-
some 630 series have two SIMM slots and some just have a row of solder
points
with no socket ...
There are some 64 and 128 MB RAM cards available even tho apple spec
says
32MB max. I got mine from WeLoveMacs, $20 for the 64 and $40 for the
128 (approximately)
The second slot if exists only takes single sided cards, like the 64
(mine doesn't
have one so I can't swear that works either). 32s are cheaper.

You don't need a special cable. 630 series was first to use IDE
drives. You can
use any ide drive, but if it is really large it may have to be
partitioned (perhaps on a newer mac).
I have a 4GB hd in mine.

8.1 -- is much better than 7, however you can get 7.5.3 free from
apple website.

no ppc only apps, anything that is system 7 compatible.

some 68k macs can put a appleII emulator card in I think, but don't
know which.
