Hello folks.

I'm overjoyed to have found this group and have learned a bunch in a
few months. Your collective expertise is amazing.
I have an SE/30 upstairs collecting dust. My first of maybe 6 macs.

And I recently purchased a Mac 128k.

I am going to take it apart, photograph it, and create an 'Exploded
Design' that I'm going to put on a T-shirt.
(I am aware of the existing Exploded Design after asking for it here;
I'm going to do something different.)

The Mac arrived today and I'm going to get to work on Saturday. The
sender of the Mac has been great, and has
passed on the following advice.

I'm just kinda double-checking it because I don't want to get shocked,
yanno. Also, he made it clear that I am
taking my own risk with disassembly. :)

from him:

It's not been plugged in for months, so there should be no shock risk.
It's prudent to pretend there IS however. Here's how to discharge a CRT.

Use two long screwdrivers, with good insulated handles. Touch one
screwdriver tip to the CRT where the high-voltage line is attached,
under that suction cup, find the conductor. Touch the other tip to a
ground on the metal chassis. THen cross the two screwdrivers so the
metal shafts TOUCH. that shorts out any "charge".

DONT DONT DONT do this with a LIVE POWERED CRT.
Wait hours before doing this with a RECENTLY LIVE CRT.
Wear insulated shoes, don't stand on wet floors, don't touch dead
circuits without verifying they are inactive FIRST.

CRT's are like big CAPACITORS. They store charge. Really!

THOUGHTS OR ADVICE?
