Hello, everyone.
I have a Macintosh SE FDHD sitting here next to me, and its hard disk
was running System 7.5 just beautifully a few moments ago. Now, it
will not boot from the hard disk anymore. I inserted my System Tools
diskette, and ran Disk First Aid. It went through all the normal
processes, and then it got to this message:
"Problem: Invalid node structure, 4, 0"
"Rechecking catalog file."
"Test done. Problems were found, but Disk First Aid cannot repair
them."
Is there any way I can recover the data from the hard disk without
formatting it all over again first? I have a drive I can back it up
onto, but I do not know what I should do from here first. I have
backed up most of the stuff already by way of an external SCSI drive.
However, this was last done about three months ago, and I never did
get everything, since the external drive is a 40MB drive, while the
internal one is somehow 160MB. Don't ask me how it is, but it is. It
came that way when I bought the SE from a surplus center about five
years ago. I have a bigger hard drive that I can use now, though. Any
help you can give me about how to repair the invalid node or at least
backup my other data would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
-Noah.
