Well Noah it looks like you can try to:

-Boot from a different Hard Disk
-Try and mount the defective Hard Disk with something like SCSI Probe (If it 
does not mount)
-Run Disk Tools, etc on the defective Hard Disk (Assuming it actually 
mounts)

    If it does not mount either the disk is damaged or perhaps the HDD 
driver needs to be replaced.

You could attempt to reinstall a different Hard Disk driver on the defective 
hard disk. I had a situation with a Quadra 660AV where the driver for the 
hard disk was corrupt and was able to use La Cie's storage utilities to 
reinstall the HDD driver with no data loss. If you need a copy of Silver 
Lining 6.0.1 I would be happy to e-mail it to you in SIT format.
