What I did to remove the CRT was simply to lay it flat on it's face,  
undo all the screws, then lift up the CRT and the metal frame, and  
slide the front part out... It worked well for me, and I did discharge  
the CRT first. (There were no big sparks or anything, in fact nothing  
happened at all.) The CRT and frame sat on my floor for a few days  
while I un yellowed the case. I did pop out all the apples of the  
things I un-yellowed, just to be safe.
