In the Ontario, OR through Boise, ID area, none of the thrift stores get much
in the way of computers and electronics, though Goodwill and DI (Deseret
Industries, run by the Mormons) tend to get more of it.
I picked up a Cannon ip3000 printer at Goodwill for $19, a Griffin TuneCast II
for $2, a folding keyboard for a Handspring Visor was $4.
I've picked up various PC parts at DI for small prices and got a good 300 DPI
laser printer there for $9.
The only Mac stuff I've ever seen at DI was a large wad of 3-pin AppleTalk
cables and dongles a couple years ago.
I've only seen ONE digital camera at a thrift store and it was a POS 1/4 VGA
toy. They're still getting in loads of 35mm and Advantix film cameras.
There's a new thrift store here in Weiser, ID (it's the National Old-Time
Fiddle Festival this week) which has a dirty Centris 610 with keyboard, monitor
and external CD-ROM, 230 meg hard drive. I forget the price on it but it's
insanely high.
Hmmm, I'm looking for a slimline case to build an HTPC... some black
spraypaint... <VBEG>
