Well, it's been a long long time since I used one of those Macs, but I think it should at least have a blinking question mark, or a Mac icon in the center of the screen. (I just can't quite remember how it goes.) Unless you have a working HD connected with the system software installed on it, you must have the system floppy(ies) to insert into the floppy drive to get it to boot-up. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
