The ANS was available, and was a current product, from February 1996
to April 1997, an extremely short period, barely 14 months.

They cost well north of $10,000, for the basic configuration, and the
features were priced accordingly. Figure on $15,000 for a minimally
usable configuration.

Not withstanding the standard PCI bus and the presence of the Apple
Desktop Bus, ADB, these were NOT Macs, and had very little
compatibility with Mac add-ons.

Usually, the proprietary RAID and Fiberchannel cards were used for
expansion beyond the internal and hot-pluggable UW-SCSI drives.

There are NO standard components within an ANS, save the standard
300i (ANS 500) or 600i (ANS 700) CD drive and the standard "Super
Drive" floppy drive (both models).

Brand-new examples would have brought about $400-$500, about a decade
ago, 1999, or about two to three years after the product was
discontinued (and was abandoned) by Apple.

All existing stock was eventually sent to an Apple-authorized
liquidator/destructor, and most were simply destroyed.

I guess that increases their "rarity", but they couldn't have been
that rare as I own nearly a dozen such units.

They are worth what they are worth to a gen-u-wine buyer who has an
interest in them, and the ability to remove them from your premises,
as they are both bulky and heavy.

There are NO accessories available for them, these having been sent
to the crushers by Apple a long time ago.

Forget trying to sell them on eBay.

The last auction for them brought barely more than the minimum bid,
assuming a $0.99 minimum.
