Out of curiosity, what does your Monitors cpl say? Does it give you 
color/grayscale options? Many Macs that only support one particular 
resolution/color depths will let you select other options. If you have 
it set to 16 or 256 grays instead of straight black and white, it might 
be confusing it. Worth a try anyway.
