I completely agree. KDE has always been slow for me, and totally
unacceptable for use as a desktop for anything worthwhile doing...with that
being said, Ubuntu is based on GNOME, which I find more usable in my daily
use on my 6 Virtual Machines (hosted on a Core i7 processor [thats 8 logical
'processors'] and 6GB ram) and my other misc computers. I fell out of the
PowerPC stuff after my iBook died, along with my Intel Mac Mini last year.
I'd like to get back again, but haven't been able to find a decent deal on
any PPC stuff.

I ran Xubuntu (based on the XFCE interface, slightly less-usable than GNOME,
but much less demanding) on my iBook and Ubuntu on my G3/500 and my G4.
