Hello All! since some days I own a Color Classic. Because the system did come with no battery installed, I bought a new 3.6V battery and placed it on the mobo.
Now I have the following problem: The Mac does not boot anymore.... :-( After power on the HD spins up and the startup sound occurs. The grey screen appears and for a moment the "Happy Mac" shows up. Then it sounds like the HD is accessed but after a while, the disk symbol with the blinking question mark is shown. When I try to insert a System 7.1 boot disk, the system tries to access the disk but ejects the disk immediately and the disk symbol with the blinking question mark shows up again. Before - without the battery - the Mac did boot System 7.1 from the hard drive... This I have tried already: - I removed the battery again - I perfomed a PRAM reset - try to start with shift key hold but still no boot up from any media. Is there any procedure to figure out what the problem is? Does somebody know what to do with this problem? It would be a sad thing if the Colour Classic died because I tried to install a new battery - it is in a beautiful condition .... :-( Thx for any help! Regards, Ralf
