Subject: ImageWriter... and fighting with Chooser

Even when I was little, I never liked Chooser... So now... it's still giving me problems... So long story short, I have an ImageWriter I that I want to test out; I found a cable for it today, but have had no success getting any Mac to see it. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the printer, the cable (which I *think* is right, but I don't know) It seemed like it was connected to my Classic, but... there's no word processing application on it, so I couldn't print anything. So I tried my PB Duo 230, but there were no ports when I clicked on ImageWriter in Chooser. So I moved to my 7500 which is running 9.2.2... I select ImageWriter, and selected the printer port, (Which is what it is plugged into) and... nothing... From Simple Text, when I try to print, it just says "Choose a printer in Chooser" Now, I think that's what I just did... Why isn't this working? Is Serial hot-pluggable? Because if not... that may be the problem, since I tried it in the modem port also (without restarting)
Anyways, insights into the workings of Chooser would be helpful... Thanks
