You need all the printing extensions installed for your printer or it won't
work.
The easiest way is a fresh System or Mac OS install.
An install for Any Macintosh will dump everything onto the hard drive,
including for all the Mac hardware you don't have. (The reality behind "It just
works!".)
An install for This Macintosh uses a rudimentary detection of the hardware and
reduces what gets installed a little, but still dumps on loads of extensions
etc for hardware you don't have.
