I recently attained the guts of a Mac IIfx (no case I'm afraid) from a
friend and I've been having trouble getting it powered on.Due to my
lack of a suitable case I've got the components laid on a table, with
the logic board and power unit connected and both screw sockets
grounded to the PSU (as from experience with getting power macs going
they must be grounded for it to power up). When I try both hard switch
(on the logic board) and soft boot (keyboard) buttons I don't get
anything at all, not even a peep from the power supply. I'm assuming
it's an issue with flat PRAM batteries, as I've read that the IIfx
can't power on without batteries, and the machine hasn't been started
properly since the end of the last millennium, but I'm just wondering
if there are any other terrible defects (dead capacitors ect..) that
may contribute to causing this issue.

Cheers,
Nick
