Cracked or otherwise bad solder joints have been my absolutely most common 
repair job since the very first printed circuit boards replaced tube sockets 
and hand soldering.

In the case of mixed digital and analog - such as Apple's analog boards - I 
really think that the reflow  or wave based  bulk soldering process gets 
adjusted for a temperature that won't damage the smallest parts. That leaves 
the big parts cold-soldered.
