I have had a couple Kensington Trackballs. I have noticed that the
buttons tend to wear out and get sloppy. I think I pound the buttons
pretty hard. I have never noticed much of any wear on the rollers.
Dirt, oils from the fingers will tend to sort of create what looks
like a roadway on the rollers. The center were the large ball rolls
will stay clear, while a light build up of crud will form on either
side. This creates the illusion of their being a depression in the
middle. A mild degreaser and a little picking with the finger nail
will remove the crud and leave a smooth surface across the top of the
roller.

Kensington trackballs use to come with a life time warrantee, but I
have no idea if they would honor it and in my case after 10+ years of
use I would feel a bit silly asking them too.
