Really? That's news to me. How have you been able to accomplish this feat? My understanding (and experience) is that a 68040 based Macintosh can boot 8.1 on a standard HFS drive/partition and can then read/write an HFS+ formated drive/partition... I have never been able to boot a 68040 Macintosh from an HFS+ drive/partition.
