The DRAM controller is setup to use EDO as if it was FPM. Therefore, EDO and FPM may be used interchangeably as all accesses are FPM. The sticks may contain 5 volt or 3.3 volt DRAM chips. If 3.3 volt chips, then there will be a 3.3 volt regulator chip also on the stick, one per bank. One bank, then on 3.3 volt regulator. Two banks, then two 3.3 volt regulators. The DRAM chips, whether they are 3.3 volts or 5 volts all operate with 5 volt I/O pins, even if the entire remainder of the chips operate at 3.3 volts. The DRAM controllers in the 7200, 7220 and 4400 are different. The one in the 7200 does not support EDO. The ones in the 7220 and 4400 do not support 5 volt sticks. -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
