A few months ago I purchased through LEM swap a nice Macintosh IIci. The
computer arrived in good overal condition and had been carefully cleaned
both inside and outside. Afer a quick check, I hooked an ADB keyboard and an
Apple color display and fired it up. However, nothing happened. I let the
computer hooked to the main for a few hours and tried again. Nothing. I
contacted the seller but she refused to answer back. I was suspecting some
kind of problem with the PRAM battery, but due to personal reasons (work,
new baby, moving...) I wasn`t unable to take care of the computer. I ordered
a fresh battery from OWC and today I disassembled the computer to check the
battery and change it. Of course, it was old and leaked stuff on the battery
older. I removed the old battery and checked the holder. One of the metal
clips, with was in contact with the battery (+) which leaked has some damage
but seems to be OK; the rest of the older and the logic board are clean as
battery goo never went from the (+) clip.
So my questons are:
Can the holder clip be cleaned to remove all the stains from the battery
acid?
Would it be safe to put another fresh battery without cleaning the clip?
Thanks,
Gorka from Spain
