You might also want to look at the 6100/Performa's list of supported resolution/refresh rate combinations, and see if any of them will work with your current monitor. Most modern LCDs are very picky about the modes that they support. Also, check the PRAM battery. For some reason first-gen Power Macs have video sync problems when their batteries are weak.
