I've gotten that kind of adapter combination to work with my Performa
6100 (scsi hd seems dead now, though) and a 15" lcd. You can buy a
variety of straight mac to vga adapter with a configurable dip switch
on eBay and a few other sites. As long as you choose the right config
option it seems to work. I can't remember which one I used, but I had
to try a number of settings before finding one that worked without
flickering. That's two adapters, hdi-45 to mac and mac to VGA plus the
VGA cable. Looks like you need to find an adapter with the right M/F
connector to reduce the extra changes. The less adapters you have, the
easier it will be to troubleshoot. I bought my mac-vga adapter on eBay
and it came with a sheet listing configuration options. From your
diagram it looks like you need a DB-15M to VGA(M) : mac to VGA
adapter. You currently appear to have 3 adapters, when you should only
need one.
