Dylan,

I tried holding down option and turning it on. The only volume that came up
was my hard drive. Dies this mean that I need a new super drive? I tried it
with two different install disks and neither would show up.

holding down Option before the "bong" and continue to hold it until you get
a blue screen. It should look for any bootable volumes and allow you to
choose which one to boot from. If your Tiger install DVD is in the drive
(and your drive is a Combo or SuperDrive) the Tiger DVD should be listed.
