At 1680 x 1050 what you have is too much monitor for that video card. It can't output anywhere near that high of resolution and doesn't do wide screen ratio. It's made for "square" 4:3 ratio monitors. If you can find one of the last PCI video cards made with classic Mac OS support, it should work much better with that monitor. One was the ATi Radeon 9200 Mac Edition with 128 meg and resolutions up to 2048x1536. If there's one with 256 or 512 meg it would be better. There was the Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition and the Radeon 9600 PC & Mac Edition. After some quick searching it looks like ATi's older Radeon series is pretty much it for PCI video cards that had pre-OS X Macintosh support. Get the best one there was and it'll likely have more processing power than the Powerbase 180, even with the G3.
