I have a Mac 840AV that recently has had two problems.
First, the audio quit. I checked the speaker and its connection and all is
well there.
Second (several months after above problem), when is booted, it does nothing
(black screen) for 10-15 minutes than boots. After it is on for a while I can
shut it down and reboot and it comes up promptly. Replaced the EPROM battery
and zaped the EPROM without any change. Any suggestions?
Have you checked the capacitors? Your symptoms all sound like classic signs of
failed, leaking capacitors on the logic board.
