Carlos, Next month is fine with me. I will PM you at the beginning of the month to get together.
A short SCSI Old HD Primer: Modern hard drives started around the mid 1990's. Formatting, servos, sectors etc are much different today than the older hard drives. Presently it is almost impossible to low level format a modern drive, as most low level formatting is done at the factory. Apple's first hard drive was over 30 years ago. The use of SCSI (small computer system interface) hard drives for Apple started around 1986. Anyone that was active in the computer industry a quarter of a century ago knows about these drives and the use of Low Level Formatting (LLF)and magnetic degaussing. The three drives Carlos has are early SCSI drives, probably in the 1988 to 1992 period.Usually, in the day, we would LLF drives to erase the data, but the quick and dirty use of a strong magnet was also effective, then the new user would have to LLF to use the drive again. Might as well use a hammer;) -- -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
