Aah you're right - was trying to install one prior 7.5.3

Here comes other question then - is there any way to get
7.5.3 as floppy images - the one from apple.com or
 max1zzz.co.uk is only CD version

Google for "Apple Legacy CD" and you'll find a disc image with all the old
systems up through (IIRC) 8.0 with the 8.1 update. It has apple ][ software too
plus the final updates to A/UX. There wasn't room for the full A/UX system but
there was for apple /// software, of which none is on the disc. I don't think
any Lisa/Mac XL software is on it either.

To make the floppies from the disk images you'll need a Mac with a working
1.44M floppy drive or a PC running an emulator like Basilisk II or Sheep
Shaver. Depending on what CD image you find it may be mountable on the desktop
of your Mac, mountable in an emulator as a drive or will have to be burned to a
CD-R then used in a CD drive.

Apple made that CD in the late 1990's. Its label is white with black Apple logo
and lettering and a wide, green bar across the middle.

Around the same time Apple released a disc set containing all their operating
systems 7.5 through 8.6 and software. The first version of Final Cut Pro is on
the software CD, the others are operating systems divided up by 68K, Pre-G3
PowerMac and G3 PowerMac. Those discs have a light blue label with white Apple
logo and lettering.

All those discs are hard to find ~15 years since their release, supposed to be
only for authorized Apple service persons but some people managed to order
extra sets and some ended up on eBay. The five discs will have you all set for
any apple ][ or Macintosh made in the 20th Century.
