You can mess around all you want but there is a lot of troubleshooting at 
68kmla if you go look.  I have color classics and a no power issue is usually 
caps.  If it's the power supply you may get a burnt smell.  Try sliding the 
logic board in with the power switch on, even with a bad logic board (bad 
capacitors) the machine will turn on, just won't do anything else after.  If 
that doesn't turn on its the power supply, if it turns on you must recap the 
logic board (known issue).  Good luck.
