*** CAUTION *** RS232 uses ±12V signalling, RS422 uses TTL (0-5V) signalling. You will need a level shifter to prevent the RS232 port from blowing your Mac's serial port. These are, fortunately, quite easily available in chip form.


The Mac's serial ports can easily handle +/-12V signal levels, they do (did) it all the time with modems.
