Hi Michael, I'll chime in with a few suggestions...

First, I know your pain about AOL. I had them from 1993 to 2004 and their
abysmal support and dial-up problems are what drove me away after so long.

Second, your 7300 has built-in 10BaseT networking, using that AAUI port on the
back of the machine. You can get an AAUI to RJ45 adapter like this one on eBay,
and then you can connect to the internet via more modern network hardware:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Asante-FriendlyNet-Ethernet-Adapter-AAUI-to-RJ-45-/231255817924?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35d7ebbec4

Granted, 10BaseT is not quick compared to the gigabit that current Macs do, but
it's a sh'load of a lot faster than dial-up.

For transferring files between machines, either a USB PCI card and a flash
drive, or a SCSI CD writer that can write on CDRW media, would be a choice of
workarounds. The latter was what I did when I had that machine in the late '90s.

Also, if you haven't done so already, it would be worth your while to fish
around for a G3 or G4 processor card for that machine. The 604e CPU is on a
daughterboard that can be swapped easily, and the speed increase is noticeable.

Hope that helps,
David
