OK - I wanted to make sure cause I posted a question on "LEMSWAP" and it
was denied

I have several old Macs of various types. I use some of them with
"dial-up" modems to access AOL.

Because they run old operating system software: System 7 and System 8, I
have to use

AOL versions 4.0 and 5.0 to send and receive emails. Those combinations
don't work very well for Internet access - very slow.

Anyway - all I want to do is send and receive emails to those computers.

Of course I also have a modern PC that does AOL through DSL/Internet.

AOL HAS JUST ANNOUNCED IT IS CANCELLING AOL 4.0 and 5.0 and so now I can
do e mails on those old Macs.

THIS IS HORRIBLE. I talked to a specialist at their (where, New YOrk?)
USA H Quarters and he apologized but said they won't support those versions
anymore.

I asked him if the cost was an issue and just how much does it cost them
to allow people to continue to have access to 4.0 and 5.0 and he could not
answer the question.

He said they can't support them.

There is nothing to support. Those are old versions of AOL running on old
software system MAcs and everyting works fine. There are no bugs, no
glitches, nothing to fix or support.

Yet he said, "sorry, I apologize, but AOL does not support 4.0 and 5.0
anymore" In fact, he said they won't support any old AOL except for "9".

I can't believe this.

There must be a way the MAC community can force AOL to continue to provide
old Mac software versions of AOL - how about a class action lawsuit. I
have done personally class action lawsuits - they are very doable and most of
the time work in getting the relief desired.

I have to find as many online Mac groups as I can and see who cares about
AOL 4.0 and 5.0

Thanks for listening and any help offered.
